Job Purpose:

To work within the claimant and defendant technical Costs team providing an administrative support function to the Costs team deal with all aspects of litigated and non-litigated costs matters, both Claimant and Defendant.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Setting up new claims on the company computer system
  • Generating standard system driven letters –or ad hoc letters as necessary
  • Chasing for costs offers/disbursement vouchers/bills of such other matters/documents as may be needed
  • Updating records with the appropriate action
  • Composing letters to clients/customers/third parties
  • Maintain pro-active communication with external agencies relating to claims
  • Maintaining adequate stock in all areas of office supplies including stationary and distributing when necessary
  • Delivery and collection of files between teams and departments
  • Collating and managing the file transfer list corresponding with Claimant solicitors as and when necessary
  • Providing cover to other areas of the business when necessary
  • Observing and maintaining firm confidentiality in relation to all correspondence and communications
  • Any other ad-hoc duties as and when required by the business
  • Taking responsibility for personal development and growth

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Customer focussed
  • Ability to cope under pressure
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • An ability to work using own initiative within boundaries, as well as in a team, to achieve maximum results
  • Good attention to detail and an ability to work effectively with people across a wide range of levels and responsibilities.
  • Good organisation and time management skills
