Payroll Officer

Job Purpose:

To assist in preparing and processing the payroll for all companies

  • To assist in the delivery of efficient and accurate payroll processing
  • Ensure compliance in terms of minimum wage, pension auto enrolment, HMRC submissions, Student loan repayment eligibility
  • Prepare payroll processing information, by gathering the information from departments
  • Setting up new employees on payroll
  • Entering and calculating the monthly payroll
  • Calculating Statutory payments
  • Producing reports for a variety of departments
  • Keeping employee payroll data, upto date in terms of salary changes, job titles, Medicash upgrades.
  • Preparing BACS submission ready for employee payments
  • Preparing monthly payroll reports, monthly summaries of earnings, tax loans ect.
  • Assisting with any work required on payroll discrepancies
  • Provide employee support on pay issues, by answering staff questions and requests
  • Comply with HMRC and other legal requirements by keeping upto date on legislation changes, supporting manager in ensuring changes are adhered to
  • Reconciling the monthly Medicash
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential

Experience & Knowledge:

  • A good understanding of the payroll process and the PAYE system
  • Payroll processing experience of 1 year
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent Microsoft excel skills
  • Good analytical understanding
  • Ability to establish a good working relationship with customers and fellow colleagues
