Carpenters Group Sponsors Headway Sefton Summer Ball for a Second Year
Carpenters Group was proud to once again sponsor the Headway Sefton Summer Ball, which returned on Friday 3 July at the Crowne Plaza Liverpool for an evening of fundraising and entertainment.
Bringing together brain injury survivors, families, carers, volunteers, businesses and supporters, the event celebrated the work of Headway Sefton while raising vital funds to help the charity continue supporting people affected by brain injury across the region.
The evening proved to be another tremendous success, raising £18,000 for Headway Sefton and surpassing the total achieved at last year's inaugural ball.
Headway Sefton holds a special place within the Carpenters Group family. Founded by Head of Serious Injury, Carol Hopwood, the charity provides a welcoming community for people living with brain injuries, along with the friends and family members who support them. Through its activities and peer support network, Headway Sefton helps people build confidence and connect with others who understand the challenges they face.
Guests were welcomed with drinks kindly sponsored by Exchange Chambers, while talented singer Jessica Ormesher provided live entertainment during the reception.
Broadcaster Roy Sheppard once again generously donated his time to act as Master of Ceremonies, guiding guests through the event with his trademark warmth and humour.
One of the most poignant moments of the evening came when guests watched a powerful video sharing the story of Jan Johnston, husband of Headway Sefton Chair, Cathy Johnston. Having suffered two brain injuries, Jan is a valued and active member of the Headway community. His story offered a moving insight into the realities of life after brain injury and highlighted the importance of the friendship and understanding that organisations such as Headway Sefton provide.
Following dinner, musician Stephen Bayliss returned to the stage after entertaining guests at last year's event. His performance soon had the dance floor full, with supporters coming together to celebrate another successful year for the charity.
The raffle was once again a highlight of the evening, with an array of fantastic prizes generously donated by supporters. Guests had the chance to win an overnight stay with breakfast at the Crowne Plaza Liverpool, luxury Fortnum & Mason hampers and a champagne cream tea at Harrods, among many other prizes.
Among the standout donations was an incredible mosaic football created by renowned artist David O'Brien. After attracting significant attention at last year's ball with his stunning Oasis-inspired mosaic guitar, David once again demonstrated his generosity by donating a unique piece of artwork to support the charity's fundraising efforts.
While the fundraising total was a fantastic achievement, the evening was about much more than the money raised. The Summer Ball brought together people whose lives have been touched by brain injury, creating an opportunity to share experiences, build connections and celebrate the strength of the Headway Sefton community.
