Name?

Sean Harris

Role?

Large Loss Technical Lead

Why a career in law?

I made a decision when taking my ‘A’ levels that I wanted to pursue a career in the law. My Father and Uncle were both Solicitors, all be it in Criminal Law. They both had an impact upon my decision.

What's the best thing about working at Carpenters?

No matter what position colleagues occupy at Carpenters, everyone is so friendly and keen to do the best they can, helping our clients to achieve their goals / aims

Most rewarding element of your role?

I really enjoy having the opportunity to help colleagues and use my experience as a solicitor of over 25 years to assist in developing and enhancing their own capabilities, especially when it comes to large loss and technical claims which require a high degree of analysis.

Career Highlight?

Rather than selecting a particular case, I generally enjoy knowing that clients elect to use my expertise when it comes to advising on high value and technical claims. I have been instructed over the last 25 years by some of the biggest Insurers.

If you didn’t pursue a career in law what career would you have pursued?

Whilst I had always been focused in pursuing a career in the law, I probably would have looked to have been a History teacher as an alternative. It has always been an area that has interested me, especially the early Greek and Roman era.

Outside interests?

I have a son and daughter who more than keep me occupied. In the summer of 2025 my Son represented Wales for the U17 squad as a 100m sprinter whilst my Daughter is heavily involved with horse riding

I am a Swansea City supporter and I am also heavily involved in a local football club which plays in the 3rd tier of Welsh football

Fun Fact?

My grandfather was an Irish International footballer whilst my brother also played professional football, including a spell with Dunfermline Athletic in the Scottish Premier League
