Brewing a Greener Future: Our Journey to reduce Energy usage

05 June 2025
At Carpenters Group by 2026, we’re aiming to reduce our annual energy usage by 10%.

At Carpenters Group, we believe small actions lead to big change. As part of our commitment to sustainability this World Environment Day, we’re turning the spotlight on how our everyday choices such as brewing a cup of tea, add up and how we’re taking steps to reduce our impact on the environment.

The Daily Brew

In the past year alone, our Carpenters Group Colleagues went through over 200,000 cups of tea and coffee, 11,500 pints of milk, 1,500+ loaves of bread and more than 1,000 tubs of butter/spread. These numbers tell a story of a busy, thriving workplace, but they also highlight our environmental footprint.

Powering Change

The annual energy consumption of a business such as ours, equates to boiling the kettle over 8 million times. That’s one kettle boiled every 4 seconds, every hour of every day for a whole year. A single kettle boiled might not sound like much but when multiplied across thousands of employees and hundreds of thousands of cups of tea or coffee, it adds up fast.

Our Goal

By 2026, we’re aiming to reduce our annual energy usage by 10%. That’s a saving of over 816,980 kettles boiled every year.

World Environment Day reminds us that every habit, every switch turned off, and every thoughtful choice counts. Whether it’s rethinking the tea round or powering down at the end of the day, we’re proud to be doing our part.

By embedding these simple energy-saving behaviours into our everyday routine, we’re reducing our carbon footprint, contributing to our sustainability goals and showing the power of teamwork.
