2 minute read.

Carpenters Group are proud to partner with so many amazing charities and good causes that do vital work in our local communities. Every month we shine the spotlight on one of these to showcase everything they have to offer.

This month we have picked Rainbow Trust Children's Charity - Leading organisation providing emotional and practical support to families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness.

We spoke to, Corporate and Community Fundraising Manager, Katherine Burgess:

February: Rainbow Trust Children's Charity

Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity was established in 1986 by Bernadette Cleary OBE when a neighbouring family needed support for them and their child who was dying from a terminal illness. Since then, the charity has grown and now supports around 1,100 families with a seriously ill child a year across nine care areas around the country. With there being are an estimated 86,625* children in England with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, the support Rainbow trust provides is needed now more than ever. Thousands of families have to face the very real possibility that their child may die and struggle to cope on a day-to-day basis. Rainbow Trust supports these families with a seriously ill child by pairing each family with an expert Family Support Worker who provide a lifeline, enabling families and children to make the most of their time together, giving them practical and emotional support, whenever they need it, for as long as is needed.

Support is hugely varied and depends on the needs of the family. It can include listening to a family’s fears, keeping a seriously ill child company during hospital stays, driving families to medical appointments, organising fun activities to help sick children and their brothers and sisters, and support through bereavement and grief.

 ILC Day 2024

Rainbow Trust is the benefiting charity of I Love Claims, ILC Day and on the 14th of February Carpenters will be taking part, showing the love and wearing Red to work. Please do get involved and take part to help us raise money for such a worthwhile cause.
