Carpenters Group are proud to partner with so many amazing charities and good causes that do vital work in our local communities. Every month we shine the spotlight on one of these to showcase everything they have to offer.

This month we have picked Sean's Place - Men's Mental Health Support - as we're also celebrating the launch of Bolan's Shoes Film release this month, of which Sean's Place is their chosen charity.

We spoke to CEO and Founder, Debbie Rogers, who founded the charity in 2020 after the tragic loss of her brother who shared the story below with us.

September: Sean's Place

Sean's Place was founded in 2020 following the tragic loss of Sean to suicide in 2019, Sean's sister Debbie created Sean's Place as a lasting legacy to her brother with the aim is to improve men’s mental health and well-being across through non- clinical support to improve confidence and self-esteem for men whilst reducing symptoms of depression, stress and anxiety. We want to ensure that support is available at the earliest opportunity for men in our community, we do this by providing a range of practical, proactive support that is free to access. We are determined to use Sean’s story to prevent men feeling like they have no alternative but to take their own life, With waiting lists for mental health services increasing and male suicide at an all time high we want to ensure that men have a safe, non judgemental environment to improve their mental health whilst challenging the stigma and breaking down barriers for men across Merseyside.

  What do you do?

We provide a range of programmes and support for men which include therapeutic support such as counselling and bereavement support plus lots of social activities such as mindfulness, music groups, art and cookery classes and qualifications. In addition to this we run a Family Support group to support the whole family and provide suicide prevention training to them to help keep their loved one safe at home.
