What apprenticeship are you working towards?

SQE Solicitor Apprenticeship.

What motivated you to pursue an apprenticeship?

I have previously obtained a law degree and gained a number of years of legal work experience so achieving my solicitor qualification is the next step for me in my career. An apprenticeship has offered me the perfect balance to achieve this as I am able to study during work hours and also use my day to day tasks to contribute towards my qualification.

Can you share a memorable experience or achievement from your apprenticeship?

 A memorable experience for me would be speaking about my apprenticeship at a legal careers day and introducing younger students to the multiple routes available into the legal sector.

What advice would you give to someone considering an apprenticeship?

My advice would be that whilst the SQE is showing itself in the media to be a difficult challenge, this shouldn’t put anybody off! The support and learning tools provided by both the University of Law and Carpenters have been really helpful in preparing me for all exams and giving me confidence moving through each stage of the apprenticeship.

 How do you feel your apprenticeship is preparing you for the future?

The apprenticeship allows me to study whilst also working in a real legal environment, providing the perfect preparation for a career in law.
