Group Finance Controller
Location:
Birkenhead or Liverpool
Salary: competitive
Hours of Work: 37 hours a week
Core hours Monday – Thursday 9am – 5.30pm
Friday 9am – 5pm

Job purpose:
- Provide timely, accurate and insightful financial and management reporting, business
analysis and strategic support - Manage the procurement & planning processes
- Oversee the financial operations ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory
requirements and providing financial advice and support to senior management
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage the preparation of monthly management accounts, financial statements and
reports, including variance analysis, performance trends, and weekly key performance
indicators (KPIs) to inform decision-making and support strategic planning. - Work with other departments and teams to provide financial analysis, insights and
recommendations to drive business performance and growth - Manage the procurement processes, ensuring that goods and services are procured at the
best value for money and that contracts are appropriately managed - Provide financial advice and support to senior management on strategic planning,
budgeting, and business development initiatives - Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with legal and
regulatory requirements - Manage the day-to-day financial operations, including credit control, bank reconciliations,
purchase orders, sales invoicing and Supplier reconciliations - Preparation of monthly Executive and Operations Board reports
- Reviewing Corporation Tax & VAT returns
- Management of the R&D Tax credits process, ensuring to engage with all relevant
stakeholders - Perform any other duties as assigned by senior management
Experience & Knowledge:
- A professional accountancy qualification such as ACA, CIMA or ACCA
- Experience in an equivalent senior finance role
- Proven experience in business planning and financial analysis
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide
meaningful insights - Excellent time management and organisational skills, with a calm and methodical approach
to work, and a flexible and adaptable attitude to resolving issues - Good attention to detail, deadline driven with an ability to work effectively with people
across a wide range of levels and responsibilities - Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent IT skills, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using
financial systems and reporting tools
Desirable experience & knowledge:
- Previous experience within a legal, insurance or financial services environment
- Knowledge of Solicitor Accounts Rules & General Data Protection Regulation Rules
